SAMSUNG GALAXY TAB LUXURY EDITION

Samsung has launched a new ‘luxury limited edition’ Galaxy Tab at the Millionaire Fair. It Called the Galaxy Tab Luxury Edition. It’s selling from December 15th, 2010 until January 31th, 2010. They repackaged the tablet with an exclusive leather case and a Bluetooth headset. They’ve also chosen a black box to portray a more luxury feel for their buyers. Sadly though, the tablet’s spec hasn’t been changed a bit. You’re still getting the same 7-inch tablet with Froyo, the same 1GHz processor, and the rest of the suspects. Then again, you’re paying a premium price of €749 approx. USD$990 just for that black packaging.

CENTURY RAZOKU LINE CRIB535EUF SUPER COMBO HARD DRIVE

Century Japan has launched a new super-combo external hard drive bay called the Century Razoku Line CRIB535EUF. It’s essentially a bay that can house five hot-swappable 3.5-inch SATA hard disks, so you can change your hard disks easily without needing to mingle around in your computer’s chassis. More so if you chassis are rather complicated, though these days you can easily find new portable and compact 1TB external drives at the size of 2.5-inch. The bay measures at 5.1-inch x 7.3-inch x 10.2-inch and weighing 7.3 lbs, the storage device supports hard drives of up to 3TB per bay for a total of up to 15TB of storage space.

Luckily the Century Razoku Line CRIB535EUF also provides a USB 3.0, Firewire and eSATA ports for a high speed transfer rate, so that you don’t have to wait the whole day for your data to get transferred. The drive is cooled with a couple of 60mm cooling fans to make those metal bricks chilled at all times. The Century Razoku Line CRIB535EUF is compatible with the Microsoft Windows 7, Vista, XP and Mac OS X.

CHAMELEON X-1 MOUSE FROM SHOGUN BROS.

Here is the Chameleon X-1 mouse from Shogun Bros. You can easily flip it up and play your Mario bros. that is because the bottom of the mouse not only house the 1600 dpi optical sensor, it also houses 14 buttons. Yes, the “select” and “start” look awfully familiar. There’s also 7 buttons on the top, but I don’t think you’d care really, since you’re busy playing your Mario and spying on whether mum will be entering the room again. But the good thing is that this is a wireless mouse with a USB 2.4GHz wireless dongle, so you shouldn’t have any problem with snakes and ladders. Sadly, there’s no pricing on this mouse cum PC gamepad, so you can only dream of dad buying you this as Christmas present.

iPAD FRONT AND BACK CAMERA COMING NEXT APRIL 2011

iPad rumours of the next iPad have already begun emerging, and this ain’t ordinary rumour. Reuters has cited from no less than four sources from within Apple’s component suppliers, and all have expressed their belief that the fruity tablet will get a refresh sometime in 2011, probably in the early quarters.

These sources stated that the new iPad will have both a back-mounted and a front-facing module, with Largan and Genius identified as having received new orders from Cupertino for churning out imagers. They also mentioned that production at places like Wintek and Simplo is expected to ramp up in the first quarter, and that parts are targeted for a February shipment in preparation for an April iPad refresh. Well, these are still rumours so we should just enjoy the bad weather first before wondering about the next iPad.

GOOGLE NEXUS S

Here's Google’s Nexus S smartphone is finally getting official, with an official page as well, and it isn’t like what the previous rumours are saying. There’s no dual-core Orion processor, but the phone does have a dedicated GPU.

The Nexus S page is now live, and from there we know that this new baby of Google has a Super-AMOLED 4-inch WVGA display with 480 x 800 resolutions. Interesting Google listed “anti-fingerprint display coating” for that touch capacitive screen. The phone runs on triband HSPA with AWS support, but there’s no HSPA+ support. Spec wise, the heart is a 1GHz Cortex A8-based Hummingbird processor, which amusingly is quite the twin with the iPhone 4’s processor.

There’s 16GB of onboard storage, with 512MB of RAM, and also three-axis gyroscope. Connection wise there’s Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR, besides WiFi 802.11b/g/n. There’s also the NFC chip that we mentioned earlier. The phone’s developed by Samsung. Comparison wise, the phone does have slightly more feature than the Nexus One, but doesn’t really outshine the Galaxy S, besides having embedded NFC and a contour screen.

According to the Official Google Blog, the Nexus S will be available for purchase after December 16th “online and in-store from all Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile stores,” either unlocked or with a T-Mobile plan. Best Buy US has listed the phone for USD$199 with a two-year T-Mobile contract or $529 unlocked. For those in UK, look for the Nexus S to hit December 20th at Carphone Warehouse and Best Buy UK.

BLACKBERRY OS 6 FIPS 140-2 SECURITY-CERTIFIED

The RIM has unveiled that the cryptographic kernel of its BlackBerry 6 mobile operating system has received the FIPS 140-2 certification. FIPS (Federal Information Processing Standard) is a classification used to validate the security of a computer system's cryptographic services and in this case makes the operating system suitable for use by government employees handling sensitive but unclassified information.

TOSHIBA POWER TV SERIES FOR ASEAN COUNTRIES

Toshiba Corporation today is unveiling a strategy and product line-up for the ASEAN countries to promote its latest “Power TV” series, which is available in three different flavours with the PB1 (24”), PC1 (32”) and PS1 (40”). These countries include Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam as Toshiba’s targeted market.

The reason given is that these countries might not have consistent power as compared to Europe or Japan where electricity power supply is very stable and efficient. Such TV could actually provide its owners with the basic information needs during Typhoon seasons and during blackout. I’m not sure about the statistics of blackout occurring, but as far as I know, Taiwan has more earthquakes and natural disasters per year compared to the numbers totalled up in these countries.

Anyway, these three TV are power efficient and comes with LED panel as well as an internal battery capable to provide up to two hours of continuous play. Toshiba is hoping to offer these TVs at a price ranging from USD 190 to USD 400 in these countries.
Brand new Power TV series :
"Toshiba's Power TV family includes the world's first LED TVs with integrated battery back-up. Developed to bring quality viewing to wide segments of the market at affordable prices, the Power TV family draws on Toshiba capabilities in innovation and design to deliver high picture quality, dramatic sound and low power consumption, all housed in slim, handsome designs."

"Power TVs series are designed for tough infrastructure conditions. The PC 1 range, one of three in the series, are the world's first TVs to integrate a stand-by rechargeable battery, a useful innovation in areas where power supply can be uncertain. Fully charged, the battery can power a TV for approximately 2 hours, long enough for the broadcast of a full soccer game. Power TV series also features "Auto Signal Booster" that improves signal sensitivity and allows viewing in areas with weak signal strengths and "Auto View", optimizes picture settings according to the ambient lighting condition for greater viewing pleasure and lower electricity consumption."

GOOGLE EARTH 6 STREET VIEW AND 3D TREES

Google Earth is already an awesome application. Besides being free, which makes it so awesome, it has been the best tool to search for directions, and show others ‘how to get there’. Though, adding the cloud there might be a dumb move as it really irritates me, but now Google has gone further and adds new cool feature to its Google Earth yet again.

This times, Street View is getting seamless integration into your virtual travels, with the little yellow Pegman set right next to the navigation controls for placing any which where. Google has also “planted” millions of 3D trees to make the 3D building view a bit more realistic, and has a new easy-access method for pulling up historical imagery. Just makes Google Earth a whole lot more realistic. One day, you might just be able to track your girlfriend jogging in the park.

SONY PLAYSTATION MOVE REACHED 4.1MILLION

Sony has launched that the company has thus far shipped 4.1 million Playstation Move controllers worldwide. Though, that number comes with a catch. This number is actually the amount that Sony shipped to retailers, not the amount that is really sold. Also, more than 75 percent of the Move sales in the US are bundles — meaning new console sales or software groupings.
“While we don’t disclose our exact sell-through number, the key is that our retailers continue to ask for more Move units and are taking every unit we can supply them with based on their sales.”

BLACKBERRY CURVE 8980

Just like how RIM named the Bold 9780 after the Bold 9700, the new Curve is called the 8980, quite similar to the Curve 8900’s naming. The Curve 8980 just got FCC approved, even with access to a user’s manual and external shots. The shots show a proper optical pad, with a 3.2-megapixel camera with flash. The screen seemed to be an improved one with higher resolution. Sadly the filing shows that it’s probably an EDGE-only device. Funny, as this device is coming in 2011 yet there’s no 3G. Hopefully RIM would actually throw in 3G before they release this new Curve.

iOS VERSION 4.2.1 JAILBREAK READY

Recently the Dev-Team has come up with a new redsnow version 0.9.6b4 jailbreak, which is based on Geohot’s Limera1n bootrom exploit. This is still not a final jailbreak as it still needs tethering. That means requiring your iPhone4, iPad, and newer iPhone 3GS and iPod touch to reattach to a PC or Mac to boot into a jailbroken state each time your device loses power or needs a reboot. Not as simple as navigating to a site and jailbreaking with a swipe. Our recommends is to hold off for now, until the ‘untethered’ version is out. But if you’re the curious type or the impatient type with aging white hairs, you can still have a try with it by following the link at the source.

PIZZA FLAGS FROM TINY URBAN KITCHEN

Series of edible pizza flags made by Jen from Tiny Urban Kitchen food blog. Jen decided to reflect upon the last decade of travel by recreating the flags of visited countries as pizzas. Jen's family has always loved traveling. Even though her parents were incredible frugal with everything else, they somehow always could afford plane tickets to fly to various parts of the world. Heck, her paternal grandfather founded what became the largest travel agency in Taiwan. When you have something like that in your lineage, you know you're destined to travel.

To this day, the travel bug has never left her, and she is always wondering what trip to take next. The next round in Project Food Blog is to create her own interpretation of pizza. She decided to take this opportunity to reflect upon the last decade or so of travel and express those trips by creating the flags of the countries she has visited as pizzas.

SANTA CLAUS' DILEMMA

A beautiful innocent young girl wants to meet Santa Claus so she puts on a robe and stays up late on Christmas Eve. Santa arrives, climbs down the chimney, and begins filling the socks. He is about to leave when the girl, who happens to be a gorgeous redhead, says in a sexy voice, "Oh Santa, please stay. Keep the chill away."

Santa replies, "HO HO HO, Gotta go, gotta go, Gotta get the presents to the children, you know."

The girl drops the robe to reveal a sexy bra and panties and says in an even sexier voice, "Oh Santa, don't run a mile; just stay for a while..."

Santa begins to sweat but replies, "HO HO HO, Gotta go, Gotta go. Gotta get the presents to the children, you know."

The girl takes off her bra and says, "Oh Santa... Please... Stay."

Santa wipes his brow but replies, "HO HO HO, Gotta go, Gotta go, gotta get the presents to the children, you know."

She loses the panties and says, "Oh Santa... Please... Stay...."

Santa, with sweat pouring off his brow, says, "HEY HEY HEY, Gotta stay, Gotta stay, Can't get up the chimney with my pecker this way!!!"

SANDY BRIDGE WILL BE RELEASED ON THE 5TH OF JANUARY

In an official statement from Intel, Chipzilla will be released its next-generation Sandy Bridge processors along with motherboards from partner manufacturers will be launched on the 5th of January at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2011). The launch will take place at Venetion Hotel in Las Vegas. In Sandy Bridge, the CPU and graphics processing unit (GPU) will be combined in one 32-nanometer piece of silicon, unlike current Westmere where only the processor lies in the 32nm chip.

Intel, already the largest graphics chip supplier in the world, will be competing against Nvidia’s higher-performance stand-alone GPUs and AMDs’ integrated CPU-GPU products and higher-performance standalone GPUs. This will be a tight fight, since a large number of lower end systems and notebooks are already running on Intel’s integrated graphics.

When the launch is made, almost every manufacturer in the world will come up with Sandy Bridge. HP, Dell, Apple, Sony, Acer, Lenovo, and Toshiba have all announced that they are up for it. Oddly, a talk to a friendly chap in local IT stores of Low Yat Plaza at KL reviews that Sandy Bridge chips and motherboards will be available as early as mid of December, which probably means that there’ll be some people breaking NDAs again this time. They say it’s probably as early as 5th of December, but I’ll take a pint of salt on that info.

CADILLAC URBAN LUXURY VEHICLE CONCEPT

Cadillac has launched the Urban Luxury Concept, a design study exploring a new type of vehicle that offers a luxury experience in a diminutive size. The Cadillac Urban Luxury Concept complements its compact dimensions with the design, features and technology for which Cadillac is known.
“The Cadillac Urban Luxury Concept celebrates its scale with intelligent, innovative content that makes it unique regardless of its size,” said Clay Dean, Director of GM North American Advanced Design and Cadillac Brand Champion. “It has a small exterior footprint, but is roomy inside.”

Engineers have developed a concept hybrid propulsion system for the Urban Luxury Concept that includes a turbocharged 1.0L three-cylinder engine employing electric assist technology, engine start-stop function, brake energy regeneration and a dry dual-clutch transmission. Based on extensive prototype and production experience, a combination of these technologies could offer projected fuel economy of 56 mpg in the city and 65 mpg on the highway, in a vehicle of the size and configuration of the Urban Luxury Concept.

ASSASSIN'S CREED : BROTHERHOOD

Here's probably why Assassin’s Creed is so great. Well, at least for Brotherhood’s title. At times bugs and glitches in games are rather annoying. Either they totally crash your system, or they prevent you from continuing your storyline. But this glitch is awesome! Simply throw the player into the sky, and you’ve got yourself the best view of an entire city! You can’t really compare this to games like Grand Theft Auto or even Counter Strike with zero gravity. This is a game set in the Renaissance, with its whole city crafted out with marvelous graphic. They should’ve provided this view in the game somehow, instead of only climbing up to the tallest building. Now, can somebody tell Ubisoft to whip up the PC version faster?

GRAN TURISMO 5 COURSE CREATION TOOLS

Here’s another reason why Gran Turismo 5 is so awesome. The developers have added a new addition to the awesome features, of a new course creator that allows players to generate their own tracks. What that means? Think Blizzard’s Starcraft 2 World Editor, but in Gran Turismo style. Yes, you can now cook up just about any combination of turns, elevation changes and the like by using the 10-percent of your brain power to enhance your creativity, and you might just make a new Nürburgring.

NEED FOR SPEED SHIFT 2

EA has launched a sequel to their previous Need for Speed: Shift which takes place in track racing will be coming in spring 2011, and it’ll be called Need for Speed Shift 2: Unleashed. What an underwhelming name. Shift was also never my piece of cake. But if you look at the trailer, the graphic seemed to be rather serious, rivaling those from Polyphony’s Gran Turismo 5 and Codemaster’s Dirt 2 and F1 2010. Though, these are all graphically generated animation, so the final thing might or might not be so beautifully crafted.

The game will most probably retain its serious and heavy simulation approach to racing sim, but will receive a graphical overhaul thanks to a new engine. Need for Speed Shift 2: Unleashed will also include an updated version of Autolog, the multiplayer matchmaking service used in Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, which you should be familiar with by now, if you play the game.

GRAN TURISMO 5 BOXES READY IN THIS WEEK

Kotaku has got a teasing picture sent in by their reader named Michael. So I guess it’s safe to say that the real damn thing which has been under 6 years of development will really be coming in this week with no more last minute delay.

iWATCH CONCEPT BY FAR

Here is obviously not the first time someone took Apple’s latest iPod nano and turns it into a watch, but I’ve to admit that TikTok and LunaTik concepts by Scott Wilson of Minimal Studios are definitely the most stunning out of the iWatch concept haystack. The TikTok features a simple snap-in design for quick wrist-mounting and is tentatively priced at USD$35, assuming that they managed to turn it from a concept to a real deal and ship it. The LunaTik, on the other hand, is marketed as a “premium conversion kit” that secures the Nano in a two-piece CNC-machined aluminum case held together with stainless steel bolts, and should ship for an estimated USD$70.

MITSUBISHI VISEO MDT231WG FULL-HD MONITOR

Here’s the Mitsubishi VISEO MDT231WG and 23-inch full-HD monitor. This is a ‘high-end’ monitor because it’s a 120Hz IPS panel with LED back-lighting, utilizing Mitsubishi MPIII and GIGA Clear II image engines. Mitsubishi says it’ll be able to fulfill all your video needs such as video games, movies and basic computer usages. Being a HD monitor, it has an integrated 2×3 Watts speaker and a 5 Watts sub-woofer, which is very rare for a monitor. Though, I still don’t really like integrated audio systems in a monitor as they tend to sound rather awful compared to budget standalone systems. Anyway, both Mitsubishi MPIII and GIGA Clear II image engines deliver better colors, sharper details and more contrast. What’s more, the Mitsubishi MDT231WG also has a 178-degree view angle, a 5.5ms response time, a 350cd/m2 brightness, a 5000:1 contrast ratio, two HDMI ports, a D5 Japanese digital port, an S-Video, Component, D-SUB, DVI-D, analog audio in/out and an optical port.
