COLOR COMES TO E INK AND LG COLOR E-PAPER SCREEN IN JAPAN

Things sure are heating up between LG and Samsung for the display war. Now, LG is officially entering the burgeoning color electronic paper market by displaying not one, but two color prototype displays at FPD International in Japan. Both are 9.7-inches diagonal, the first being fully color with an 800 x 600 resolution — which just happens to exactly match the specs of E Ink’s latest. The second, however, is only partly color, the top three quarters being monochrome with a 1200 x 1200 resolution, augmented by a 200 x 600 color strip at the bottom. It’s an interesting offering, a layout not unlike the Nook but all on a single display. Obviously there’s no mention of price and availability as these are just prototype demo of technology.

MOTOROLA DROID PRO USD$180 WITH CONTRACT

Here comes yet another assault from Motorola to the Android market. Coming under Verizon, the Motorola Droid Pro will debut on November 18th. Moto will be hoping business types lap this offer up, as it has equipped the Droid Pro with an unusual (outside of RIM’s realm) portrait QWERTY keyboard as well as a dual-mode CDMA/GSM wireless chip. A 3.1-inch display, 1GHz of processing power, and a 5 megapixel autofocus cam fill out the spec sheet. Price is set at USD$180 on a two-year contract, provided you’re happy to take care of a USD$100 mail-in rebate. Well, it’s either a USD$180, or you can wait for those single ones that had no spouse.

SONY NEW BLUETOOTH HEADSET FOR PLAYSTATION 3

Sony is updating its old and ugly Bluetooth headset design with some elegant touch. Price wise, there are no changes; it’s still the good ol’ USD$50 price tag. Spec wise, there’s dual mics, USB pairing, in-game status indicator, a charge cradle that doubles as a desktop mic, and of course, a giant mute button for when your mum comes nagging at you. It’s also smaller and glossier. It’s coming at the end of this month, or even as early as next week.
