NIKE SHOES USED TO PLAY MUSIC

Nike Music Shoe is an awesome ad for the Nike Free Run+ shoe. In the video you can see Hifana, a talented Japanese musical duo was commissioned by Nike to write and perform a live song using the Nike’s flexible running shoes as their instruments. Accelerometers and sensors were added to make the shoes interactive. Tomoaki Yanagisawa of 4nchor5 la6 was responsible for the hardware part. He added flexible and accelerometer sensors to the shoes. Daito Manabe of rhizomatiks did the sound programming with Max. They were both commissioned by Wieden + Kennedy Tokyo for this project.

The NIKE FREE RUN+ shoes sold at retail will NOT make music when bent or twisted. Indeed the shoes used in the video are the real sound controllers.
