PET AIRWAYS - THE WORLD'S FIRST PETS AIRLINE

Here Pet Airways, whose motto is “Travel for Your Best Friend”, Air travel (or any travel for that matter) can be very traumatic for pets. Pet Airways is a pet-only airline that will save your fine furry companion from the indignity of the cargo hold. Along with the joys of potty breaks, there are personal attendants and even a pet lounge where the “paw-sengers” can chill until you can pick them up.

The service will be offered between New York, Los Angeles, Denver, Chicago, and Washington D.C. at first and will expand to other cities. The cost is... More

AIR-CONDITIONED BED FROM JAPAN

Here is an air-conditioned bed from Weird Tokyo-based startup Kuchofuku [JP] and major trading company Itochu have developed a mattress of a very special kind: Just in time for the summer, the proud owners can switch on a built-in “air conditioning system” in order to cool off their bodies.

The fan is located at the foot of the mattress. When it’s switched on, air is being pulled in from behind the sleeper’s head and transported to the feet, drawing off that nasty body heat.

It’s quite cheap. According to the makers, operating the mattress for eight hours results in about 13 cents in monthly electricity costs, which is way less than using an air conditioner that cools an entire room. The best part is that the mattress can be used in winter as well, as buyers get a heater with the mattress.

Running eight hours a day, the system will generate only about 13 yen in — much cheaper than using an air conditioner to cool an entire bedroom. The mattress goes on sale in May available for around $300 in Japan.

If you live outside Japan and want to stop sweating, you now know who you can contact.

iPWR BACKUP BATTERY FOR iPHONE & iPOD

If you’re a heavy user, you’ll want a backup battery. Here's iPWR backup battery for iPhone and iPod, coming in at 1800mAh, it’s one of the more powerful batteries on the market. On a single battery charge, we were able to recharge our iPhone battery to 100% one and a half times. Comes in black or white, trimmed in silver to match the iPhone. Charges via miniUSB. We’ve always got our laptop, and we’ve always got a miniUSB cable, so there’s no extra cable to bring along and lose. At around 2.5×2.5 inches, it’s small enough to throw into a backpack pocket and forget about until the need arises.

No indication of remaining charge percentage on the battery. There’s a light to indicate that it’s either fully charged or dead, but there’s no way to tell if its got 90% left or 5%. If I’m going to be leaving this thing in my battery for backup purposes, I need to be able to make sure it’s got a good amount of juice left.

If you’re carrying an iPhone and an iPod or two, the iPWR backup battery is a solid pick. Priced around 55 bucks through most online retailers, it’s the cheapest 1800mAh iPhone battery we’ve seen thus far.
